Eemmeerdijk – mirroring the colours of the rainbow

Eemmeerdijk – mirroring the colours of the rainbow
Eemmeerdijk Wind Farm is located on the Eemmeerdijk dyke near Zeewolde on the southern shore of the Flevoland polder in the middle of the Netherlands.

The farm does not look like a regular wind farm because the masts are all slightly different in colour. This makes all the wind turbines together look somewhat like a rainbow. The choice of colours and the design of the farm are based on the colours of the surrounding countryside.

The wind farm comprises 18 turbines which are spread out over a stretch of 4.5 km along the Eemmeerdijk dyke. The installed capacity of the farm is 18 MW. Besides having coloured masts the wind farm also differs from other wind power facilities because the turbines supplied by NedWind only have two rotor blades each.
