Wedel CHP Plant
History and characteristics of Wedel combined heat and power (CHP) plant
The Wedel facility is a CHP plant that was built in 1961–1965. Initially the plant only generated electricity. In 1987, however, the plant was converted into a CHP plant and in 1993 it was upgraded to meet the latest environmental standards. The power plant consists of two blocks which can be used separately in order to adapt the production to changing electricity and heating demands. There are also two gas turbine units for peak-load production.
