Klaverspoor

Klaverspoor
The Klaverspoor wind farm was inaugurated in April 2023. Located in the municipalities of Moerdijk and Drimmelen, it was the first wind farm to open under the Energie A16 initiative.

Energie A16 is a collaboration between various organisations, municipalities and developers with the aim of building several wind farms along the A16 road in the province of North Brabant. These wind farms will contribute to the province’s goal of generating 50% of its energy sustainably by 2030.

The turbines at Klaverspoor have a hub height of 135 metres, a tip height of 210 metres and blades that are 75 metres long. As the turbines are located next to the railway, collaboration with ProRail, the Dutch rail infrastructure manager, is necessary for maintaining the wind farm.

Development and community involvement

Construction of Klaverspoor began at the end of 2020. From the outset, the local community has been involved in the design and execution of the wind farm. Vattenfall has ensured community participation through a neighbourhood scheme and agreements that guarantee 25% local ownership.
