Pen y Cymoedd Wind Energy Project is a 76 turbine development located on land managed by Natural Resources Wales within Rhondda Cynon Taf and Neath Port Talbot, South Wales.
The project generates enough electricity for 186,000 homes per annum and has invested £3 million in a Habitat Management Plan.
At Pen y Cymoedd, a 22 MW battery is also in operation since 2018. It helps to keep a stable supply of electricity to UK homes, and can respond to the needs of the National Grid in less than a second.
Pen y Cymoedd Wind Farm Community Interest Company (an Independent Body set up by Vattenfall) manage the £1.8 million per annum Community Fund.
