Vattenfall has built a solar park in Sas van Gent, a town located west of the canal linking Ghent and Terneuzen, close to the Belgian border. The solar park was inaugurated in spring 2026.
The site covers approximately 16 hectares, with 12 hectares occupied by the solar park and 4 hectares dedicated to landscaping. Trees and shrubs have been planted to help integrate the park into its surroundings.
Vattenfall intends to supply 90% of the electricity generated by the solar panels to local businesses, while the remaining 10% will be supplied to households in the region.
To ensure that Sas van Gent benefits from the project, Vattenfall contributes to a fund managed by the Municipality of Terneuzen. The fund supports local sustainability initiatives, creates green spaces, and enhances the local environment.
