Bleiloch

Bleiloch
Bleiloch pumped storage plant, on the upper run of the river Saale, started operations as early as 1932.

The Bleiloch dam serves as its upper reservoir. With a capacity of around 213 million cubic metres, it is Germany's largest dam. Along with the Hohenwarte and Eichicht dams, it forms the 'Saale cascade', Germany's largest connected series of reservoirs.

In 2016, the Bleiloch reservoir was designated a historic landmark of civil engineering.
