Slufterdam
Facts

Slufterdam is located in the Maasvlakte area of Rotterdam, which was built on land reclaimed from the North Sea. Wind speeds in this area are relatively high, and Slufterdam's energy production is comparable to that of wind turbines at sea, where wind conditions are generally more favourable.
Constructive cooperation
Slufterdam's location right next to a nature and recreation area brings together various interests. All parties involved — including nature conservation organisations, local authorities, the Port of Rotterdam and energy companies — have worked together with the aim of generating more energy from renewable sources and contributing to nature restoration.
Natuurfonds invests in coastal nature
Established by Vattenfall and Eneco, the Natuurfonds (Nature Fund) has been funded by the Slufterdam wind farm since 2019. It supports projects that demonstrably increase biodiversity and appreciation of nature in the Voornes Duin and Voordelta regions.
A separate fund, the Leefbaarheidsfonds, has also been set up to support local initiatives that benefit residents of the Voorne aan Zee municipality.
