Lyviksverket power plant is located by Lake Väsman, one kilometre south-west of the centre of the town of Ludvika.
The plant, which was commissioned in 1999, primarily uses biofuel in the form of wood chips. Almost all of Ludvika's district heating production takes place at Lyviksverket. The plant also produces process heat for neighbouring industries.
Lyviksverket is owned by Västerbergslagens Energi AB (VB Energi), which in turn is jointly owned by Vattenfall and the municipalities of Ludvika and Fagersta.
