Lyviksverket Thermal Power Plant is situated by Lake Väsman, one kilometre south west of the centre of the town of Ludvika. It produces heat and hot water needed in Ludvika. In addition, the plant produces process heat for adjacent industries.
The plant is owned by Västerbergslagens Energi AB (VB Energi), which is jointly owned by Vattenfall and the municipalities of Ludvika and Fagersta.
Lyviksverket primarily uses biofuel, in the form of wood chips, and recycled heat from nearby industries to produce district heating.
