The offshore wind farm Vesterhav Syd can supply around 170,000 households with fossil-free electricity each year.
Vesterhav Syd is located off the Jutland coast between Søndervig and Hvide Sande. The wind turbines are placed in a single row in an almost direct north-south orientation about 9 kilometres from the coast. As the coastline bends slightly to the east, the distance increases by 1-2 kilometres in several places.
Together with Vesterhav Nord, Vesterhav Syd is the first offshore wind farm in which local residents and holiday home owners could buy shares. 2,359 people have taken advantage of this opportunity.
The maintenance of Vesterhav Syd is managed from a service office in Hvide Sande, which opened in 2023 and also serves the wind farms Vesterhav Nord and Horns Rev 3.
