Bruzaholm
Facts
The wind turbines have a total height of 240 metres and a rotor diameter of 170 metres. The wind farm is serviced and maintained by a service provider based in Mariannelund. Bruzaholm wind farm is also monitored remotely around the clock by a surveillance centre.
Landscape and environment
The landscape around the wind farm consists mainly of production forest in hilly terrain. The area is scattered with several streams and wetlands, as well as numerous archaeological remains, including fossil arable land, old croft foundations, and clearings with rich meadow and pasture flora. There are also prehistoric burial monuments and a number of relict charcoal hearths. Vattenfall has installed information signs at the site where visitors can learn more about both historical and contemporary energy production.
The capercaillie is common in the area, and a monitoring programme has been set up to track them. Since bats are also present, the wind turbines are equipped with a 'bat mode' that stops electricity generation during warm summer nights when the bats are active.
Battery plant for storage of wind energy
Bruzaholm wind farm is connected to a battery storage system which was commissioned in 2026. The batteries have a total output of 38 MW and an energy storage capacity of 38 MWh. This helps maintain balance in the electricity system and makes the grid more stable.
