The Velinga wind farm is located about ten kilometres south of the town of Tidaholm in Västergötland County. It was commissioned in 2026.
The wind turbines have a total height of 180 metres and a rotor diameter of 150 metres. Service and maintenance of Velinga wind farm is carried out by a service provider based in Skara. The wind farm is also monitored remotely around the clock by a surveillence centre.
Landscape and environment
Velinga is located in the hilly, forested area of Hökensås, where there are also plenty of archaeological remains. The surrounding landscape consists of coniferous forest interspersed with wetlands and swamp forests.
As there are bats in the area, the wind turbines at Velinga are equipped with a 'bat mode' to prevent them from generating electricity when bats are active on warm summer nights.
