Långbjörn
Långbjörn Hydro Power Plant is situated by the Ångermanälven River in northern Sweden. It was commissioned in 1959 and incorporates a Kaplan turbine with a head (drop) of 34 metres. The installed capacity is 100 MW.
Increasing safety
As part of Vattenfall’s hydro power programme, safety at the Långbjörn facility was increased in 2005–2006. The dam was reinforced to be able to handle extreme water flows, which are expected to occur once every 10,000 years.
