Last update
Vattenfall took over ownership of Pengfors power plant on the Umeälv river in 2009/2010.
The power plant is situated some 40 kilometres from the city of Umeå and was previously owned by E.ON (now Uniper). Pengfors power plant has three units. It was commissioned in 1954, uses a Kaplan turbine and has a head of 15.5 metres.
Major upgrade
In autumn 2014 Vattenfall carried out a major upgrade of the power plant's G1 unit. Both turbine and generator were significantly upgraded, which increased the plant's efficiency/capacity by approximately 5 MW.
