Tuggen Hydro Power Station is situated by the Ume Älv River approximately 20 kilometres downstream of the town of Lycksele. The Tuggen facility utilises 28 metres of the total 39 metres of head (drop) that Vattenfall owns in the Ume Älv River. Construction of the facility started in 1957 and it was first commissioned in 1962. The machine hall is situated above ground.
Tuggen incorporates Kaplan turbines and a head (drop) of 28 metres.
