The Hemweg solar park is located in Amsterdam.
As bondholders, Vattenfall's customers contributed to the construction of this solar park, enabling fossil-free energy production without requiring them to make their own roofs available.
The Hemweg 8 coal-fired power plant on the site was taken out of operation in December 2019. The site will be used for a sustainable industrial energy supply, among other things.
The “Together in Sun Amsterdam” project (“Samen in Zon Amsterdam”) complements this main objective very well: a major advantage of building a solar park at an existing energy production site is that the infrastructure and grid connection can be used more efficiently. This allows Vattenfall to make optimal use of the scarce space in an industrial area.
