The Jordbro facility supplies district heating to the municipalities of Nacka, Haninge, Tyresö and Värmdö. The plant can also produce electricity.
The facility was first commissioned in 1968, and was bought by Vattenfall in 1994. Since 2014, no fossil fuels have been used in the production process. Instead, the main fuels used are waste wood, other biofuels, bio-oil and waste heat. Waste wood is a recycled fuel that cannot or should not be reused and may contain certain fossil residues, such as paint or impregnation.
